I love Bubba, I especially liked that this was mostly Just Bubba, and some new 'folks'. I don't give plot away but I really loved getting back to Bubba, missed Skeeter a little... but I LOVED this book!Product details

Midsummer A Bubba the Monster Hunter Novella (Audible Audio Edition) John G Hartness John Solo Falstaff Books Books Reviews
Bubba the Monster Hunter is a really fun character. John Hartness has given us a guy who can kick some butt, but who is also thoughtful and relatable.
This story brings Bubba into the here and now with its references to a game that is obviously a reference to Pokémon Go.
He playfully skewers the game and those who play it, while treating us to the usual rollicking Bubba adventure.
A fun read with a kernel of truth.
I love the Black Knight books but wasn't sure if I'd like Bubba. This was my first Bubba book. I really enjoyed it, great story which kept moving, great characters, I should have known this would be a great story. I'll be reading the series.
I have been a reader of Bubba stories for some time and this one right up there with the best. It starts off as skewed game of Pokemon go and descents into Bubbaland rapidly there after. Bubba is the bad ass we have all come to know and love. one of the things I really like about the Bubba stories is the side references to extremely unusual partying generally followed by the phrase. "don't ask". All in all a worthy addition to the Bubba tales.
This is the first Bubba the Monster Hunter book I've read. I really like the character of Bubba. Down to earth, kill what monster needs killing, and save what needs to be saved kind of character in a big, bearded package. The story is a fun twist on getting a little too absorbed in gaming apps that leads to getting sucked into Fairyland, literally. Bubba shoots, stomps, kicks, and punches his way through fairy to make some new friends, earn a few new enemies, and save the day. Plenty of comedy (picture a sewer gator only humanoid and pink) with lots of action and magic thrown in for a twist. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more in the series.
This is a great short for folks who enjoy plot-driven, urban fantasy stories featuring action heroes. It has loads of fights, laughs, weapon talk, and some sportsball references to what I believe is American Football. However, unlike much of the genre, the women in this are hardly helpless damsels in distress.
The 3-star rating comes mainly from two things. Every once and a while, a joke gets hit a little too hard. The Zelda joke, for example, was funny until the "sounded familiar" line, which was overkill and diminished the impact. Other than that though, it really comes down to me not having a strong interest in action-heavy stories. The football jokes went totally over my head as well. I would still most definitely recommend it for folks who love that sort of adventure though.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Now I admit, I've not read all the books in this series, or I'm told there is a series, but it still wasn't hard to be drawn into the world of Bubba and all of the trouble he gets into.
What seems to be a normal missing girl's case draws him into a land of fairies, and it is his job to rescue the kidnapped girls from their queen and bring them back to their own world.
The girls are abducted while playing a phone app game that reminded me very much of Pokemon Go, and I have no doubt that is where the author got the idea from. But the rest of the story is engaging and original. The main character, Bubba, does talk just a little too much, as he strikes me as someone who would be the strong and silent type, and the story ending is certainly not what I had expected.
I did very much enjoy the world created in this book and the characters in it. The only reason I did not give it five stars was that it did have a few punctuation and grammar errors in it, but not enough to ruin the story.
Well developed story line, the main characters are very likeable and the author stays true to the characters from one story to the next. We have read all the Bubba Monster Hunter books and loved every one. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy fiction and enjoys a good laugh.
I love Bubba, I especially liked that this was mostly Just Bubba, and some new 'folks'. I don't give plot away but I really loved getting back to Bubba, missed Skeeter a little... but I LOVED this book!
